Rape, murder, suicide, no bail, it’s genocide
We didn’t’ start the Fire
Venice is burning, since Bonin’s been earning
We didn’t’ start the Fire, Venice is blighted, as we tried to fight it.
Blue tarps, Got Junk, Venice in a funk
Out of State, imports, no support, Supreme Court
Prostitution, vandalism, saturation, devastation
Sanitation, hesitation, Venice annihilation
Nero on the roof, Government has no proof

Rezone, methadone, Venice a containment zone
We didn’t’ start the Fire
Third Street is burning, since Bonin’s been churning
We didn’t’ start the Fire, Venice is blighted, but we’ve tried to fight it.
Dogtown upside down, violent shantytown
Dereliction, mental crisis, drug addiction, hepatitis
Heroin, weed, booze, storm drains full of ooze
Echo Park clean up, Venice remains a dump
Covid, Bonin’s dream, no Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream
Sirens daily, Where’s The Guy who plays the ukulele
We didn’t’ start the Fire
The Boardwalk is burning, since Bonin’s been earning
We didn’t’ start the Fire, Venice is blighted, As we’ve tried to fight it.
Homeless advocates, vagrants dropping pants
Sunset, Hampton, shelter box with a gun
Developers lobby, residents groggy
Venice a containment zone, I can’t leave my home
Tents around the school, beach and Rose cesspool
Venice strives, Lost Lives, but they all have knives
Too much alcohol, cant containment them all
Back again, bohemian, Monster on the Median
We didn’t’ start the Fire

We didn’t’ start the Fire, A new day will dawn,
Venice goes on and on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on

Dog Killed on Boardwalk by Dog Owned by Homeless Woman

(Photo credited to twitter.com/Veniceintel.)
This is the woman identified as the person who had the dog that attacked and killed the little dog recently on the Venice Boardwalk and bit the lady trying to help her dog and two other women, both trying to help. This picture is used here as an identifiable forewarning for others walking their dogs. Encircled is a butane tank and an axe that were used to fight off the dog.

A woman was injured and her dog was killed by a vicious dog owned by a homeless person recently on the Venice Boardwalk. Below is a letter sent to Chief Michel Moore by local resident describing the incident and stating the fact that residents are faced frequently with vicious dogs owned by homeless.

Dear Chief Moore,

Last night I was walking my dog on the boardwalk early evening. On my way home the BoardWalk was blocked off with ambulances and police cars on Thornton and Ocean Front Walk. When I got home I learned that a resident who was walking her small dog was viciously attacked by 1 of 2 dogs owned by a homeless woman who has been reported over and over for the same issues.

The woman’s dog was killed. She was taken to the hospital and needed 13 stitches in 3 locations. Who is going to pay for her medical bills? California is a strict liability state when it comes to dog attacks, this is a not a 1 free first bite state. Normally the owner would have the liability to pay for this woman’s medical bills, but since you refuse to enforce the law among the worst offenders, she is in a position where she will have to pay these costs herself. We love our dogs, they are our best friends, so we are going to try to break up the dog fight to save our dogs.

Note: A video was provided but the woman who was attacked asked that it be removed so the reference to the video has been removed.

You can watch the hysteria of the dog attack on this video. It’s very disturbing and shocking. You will even see a homeless man pull out an axe and try to kill the dog which had bitten the woman. This looks like a scene out of a third world country.

Attached is an email that I wrote to Councilmember Bonin on October 8th, 2019 bringing up the fact that dogs owned by homeless people were becoming a huge problem, I myself have been lunged at while walking my dog a few times now. I copied yourself, the Mayor, and the City Attorney as well. Councilmember Bonin never responded to my email.

What happened yesterday was unnecessary. It was caused out of gross negligence by the City and failure to protect its citizens. Many of us have been warning you about this specific issue for some time and no action has been taken. We have warned the City that something bad was bound to happen, now it has, and this resident happened to walk by at the wrong time.

I look forward to working with this resident, to help her collect as much evidence as she needs documenting that the City knew about this issue and failed to act, so that she can sue the City of LA for damages. Perhaps once she wins her lawsuit will the City start doing anything to prevent this from unnecessarily happening to anyone else. It is my understanding that LAPD has known about this problematic group of homeless people for sometime now, but there is nothing they can do about the situation.

What can we do to find a solution? How can you take these animals away from negligent owners who abuse and weaponize them. breed and sell them illegally? I keep my dog up to date with all immunizations. How can you enforce that everyone follow the same rules in order to protect the health of the public? What if anything, can you offer as a solution to get out to the boardwalk today and start taking action? I belive that you can find some method of enforcement to stop this from happening to anyone else.

Burglaries Plague Neighborhoods

By Judy Goldman

Note: This report seems to be the echo of many neighborhoods.

The man in this photo was very aggressive when caught trying to break through a fence with a homemade harpoon type weapon. He also threw a hard object at the car windshield. Does anybody recognize him? (He covered his face when he noticed the camera, the outfit, however, is distinctive)

This is the 3rd incident this week.

There were also two burglaries a few days ago, one on Sunset and another on Dudley. Surveillance photos from both incidents were given to Police and reports have been filed. The suspect in the surveillance photos from two of the incidents look similar.

One suspect climbed over a front walk-street fence at 5:30 PM on Sunday12/19, ransacked an outdoor storage area and broke into a locked car inside the driveway of a gated property and took two pairs of prescription glasses, an iPod, a tool kit and other items.

A resident on Sunset reported a man trespassing and stealing something of little value. A photo was included in both police reports. A detective will be investigating all 3 incidents next week.

When LAPD officers arrived they expressed frustration and dismay. They explained that they receive frequent reports of similar incidents in North Venice – and only two officers are on duty in this area at any given time, except when shifts change and four officers overlap and are on duty at the same time for a brief period.

Swinger Gets Chased on 3rd Ave While Filming

Note:  Rick Swinger is a large man.  Today, Friday 6 December, he and Craig Anthony were filming the pollution on 3rd Ave when two vagrants ran after him swinging a skateboard.  He took refuse in Gold’s Gym.  This is the letter he wrote to his senior lead officer Adrian Acosta.

By Rick Swinger

As you know Local and National News crews are doing interviews on 3rd Ave and have a right to do so but I want to inform you that they also put their lives in danger here.

I was chased down 3rd today while I was filming the pollution and over flowing trash cans with my friend Craig Anthony.  A couple of vagrants ran after me swinging a large skate board and yelling at me! This is a danger zone full of crimes, drugs and violence but we as a nation need to see this for without awareness we wont solve these problems. Google has 24/7 CCTV cameras and I’m sure they caught this along with all the other crimes that happen on this street.

You will most likely have to subpoena them but I would imagine they have all sorts of crimes attributed to them already.

Please provide us LAPD foot patrols like our Mayor Eric Garcetti has for his employees at City Hall.  That is the only way you will be able to protect this neighborhood and the news crews that frequently film here.

Venice Resident, 81 Years Old, Attack by Homeless Man

(27 July 2019) Richard Spurlin, 81-year-old, long-time resident of Venice was attacked by a homeless man when walking to his home Saturday morning around 11 am. The incident occurred on 1100 block of Harrison Ave.

He asked the man, who had belongings spread across the sidewalk, to please move so he could get by on the sidewalk. Words were spoken and a fight ensued.

Police arrived and a report was taken. The homeless person had disappeared by that time. Spurlin was taken to the hospital.

“The attack left Richard with contusions and gashes on arms and head along with a split lip. He made it home to Van Buren with blood dripping from several body parts,” wrote his wife Diane Spurlin. “Very scary!!! Police came within 20 mins and we made a report but by then the guy had fled.

“Our son drove us to Kaiser Urgent care where wounds were cleaned and wrapped, stitches in lip and C.T. scan done on head. Also a base line hepatitis test taken and tetanus shot administered. He’s now on antibiotics and pain meds. Unfortunately no witnesses to this attack. He’s 81 years old for heaven’s sake. A sad state of affairs.”

Jake Gets New Skateboard from Adam Firestone

Jake Bogart holds onto his new skateboard from Adam Firestone.

(7 July 2019) Jake had both his bike and skateboard stolen last week by a person who came into his fenced yard and into his carport to remove this 10-year-old’s bike and skateboard. His family was devastated by the act and wrote notes to the robber and then posted them on the fence.

Jake and his sister Sloane both asked who would take a bike and skateboard from a 10- year-old. This week both children had the opportunity to find out what kind of person would give a hurt, young boy a new skateboard.

His story was posted in the Update last week. Adam Firestone read about the boy and immediately responded with a new skateboard.
