LUPC Cancelled Because Too Many People Showed Up

Land Use and Planning Committee (LUPC) of the Venice Neighborhood Council (VNC) was cancelled Monday night (3 February) because there was insufficient space for the number  of people attending the outdoor event at SPY (Safe Place for Youth) site at 2469 Lincoln Blvd.

Hearing of the 40-unit Lincoln Apartments building project proposed by Venice Community Housing was postponed until early March.  Alix Gucovsky, chair of LUPC, said she would  get Westminster Elementary School at 1010 Abbot Kinney in March for the hearing.  The 40-unit building project is scheduled to be heard by LA Planning in March.

I agree, I felt VCH thought the opposition was in force, and decided to shut it down…who called to complain it was too crowded, not the residents, I hope everyone who was in attendance will show up at the next meeting.
WE NEED TO UNITE, ALL OF VENICE, TO PROTECT ALL OF OUR COMMUNITIES.
SHOW UP TO ALL MEETINGS, EVEN THOSE THOSE NOT IN YOUR DIRECT VICINITY

LUPC was cancelled because neighbors showed up with printed papers in their hands revealing that despite what SPY and VCH said, their housing is not safe for the community. They were carrying the LAFD and LAPD logs showing hundreds of recent emergency responses at SPY and VCH for assault with a deadly weapon, overdoses, battery, burglary and worse that the city just released.

Putting up with that next to an adjacent school and 800 surrounding kids is dangerous and dumb. Which is what everyone in attendance loudly said, and instead of addressing the police and fire department logs that showed they’d been gaslighting the neighborhood, LUPC shut down.

I call bullshit. I was there, and there were too many people. And they continued to arrive even after the meeting was shut down.

Those same people will show up with their same so called “printed papers” at the rescheduled meeting held at an appropriate sized facility. Let’s test your theory and see if the meeting is shut down again by the attendance of “printed papers” carriers.

The venue was too small and it’s a public meeting so they did right thing by rescheduling. And those “printed paper carriers” as you call them are called CONCERNED RESIDENTS unlike the United Way pawns the homeless industry and Bonin like to bus to local meetings.
