Sighting of a Homeless Person with a Gun Draws Police to Scene

Six police cars converged on Hampton Drive at Rose Friday around noon. As near as anyone could tell, it was reported that one of the homeless was threatening with a gun. Whether this was true or not has not been verified.

Note this is why the Venice Update seldom reports on ongoing crimes. Update has been criticized for it many times. Eye witnesses are not always correct. An LAPD report is the only answer but that usually takes days. Meanwhile, the rumors spread. Update is grateful for the comments correcting the story. As Jamie Paige said, we don’t want to point the finger in the wrong direction.

This is not true according to Vicki as stated in a reply to the story. This is what Vicki said:

This incident did NOT involve a homeless person with a gun. It was a domestic abuse incident that started in front of Westminster School. A parent picking up a child at the school tried to intervene when he saw a man beating a woman in a car on AK. The car owner pulled a gun and waved it around. The school went on lock down as a result. In trying to flee, the man with the gun fled and drove North. He was stopped on Hampton. I happened to see the arrest. Again, he was NOT homeless.

Robert Stigwell, I too talked with an eyewitness. According to their account, this was a domestic dispute that started at Westminster and ended on Rose and Hampton.

I understand our senses are heightened because of the frequency and often the violent nature of (homeless) crimes in our neighborhood. That said, Biased accusations will erode our credibility as a community.

Let’s set the record straight so we don’t incur further reputational costs. A police report should help piece the story together.

I also agree with the above mentioned–someone should see how this crime was documented by the LAPD.

    • that gutta boy PHLTY

Hey lady all my reports and reports against me r taken in by LAPD, but Bonin has rat ass LAX come on loan to help with the “burden”load of transient cases that some on LAPD ranks and staff comand are assure are identified by the signifier “unemployed” hell I was investigated for an attempted homisidal attack with a weapon…. shits not in map for July 25 or 26 at 200 lincoln… if want know if that was happening next door to me… oh and that’s right they have the right.. that’s why this is systemically being manipulated and u have blatant extortion or rights and discrimination still playing the LAPD and system masked and concealed behind the claim of compassion and concern…
LAPD keeps hands off so maps stay clear while over salaried LAX department comes addresses thing unknown..
Demand to seem ALL CRIMES INVESTIGATED IN DISTRICT INCLUDING OUTSIDE AGENCIES SPECIFICALLY LAX THAT HAS ZERO LEGAL RELATION TO LAPD

@philTmonx on Twitter can watch me play human hot potato… ain’t no one want to deal with the liability monster they created.. anywhere I land it’s a mess…

Here is part I care about.. IS IT ON LAPD CRIME MAPS, OR IS LAX ADDRESSONG IT SO IT DOSE NOT REFLECT??????? I mean they get paid an average of 200k a cop at that departmemt.. kind of nice when sort sends one of its other agencies to mess around with records and documentation especially in R egaurds to civil law and rights.

Did you know that because VCH main office got burgled on Oct 31 they lost control of all client files and records… socials everything.
Have not bothered inform the tenants just trying compile replacememts..
    Oh boy.

The man was indeed homeless. I saw the whole thing. Don’t be fooled by the homeless activists. All these homeless activists want to lull the good people of Venice into believing the homeless are just carefree vagabonds. Crime in Venice has more than doubled from the homeless.

So, the ‘homeless’ guy was driving a relatively new Jeep? Friends were in front of Westminster school picking up their son and saw the beginning of the incident. I saw the arrest, by chance, and do not believe the man was homeless. Sorry to disagree but, while a lot can be blamed on homeless, I don’t believe this one can. Got any proof that it was? I wouldn’t be surprised but none of what I’ve heard from witnesses leads me to believe he was homeless.
