VHS Presents Arnold Springer’s Book Signing of History of Venice of America

(30 September 2019) Arnold Springer has done it again. The Venice Historical Society (VHS) invites you to hear an amazing 50-year story from historian, author, activist and retired Professor Arnold Springer, as he shares a journey through Venice’s unique and colorful history. Meet will be held 10 October, 6:30 pm, Oakwood Recreation Center, 767 California.

This oversized folio with multiple columns of reading on each page, is packed with references from local newspapers primarily the Venice Vanguard and the Outlook and including the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Herald. Arnold’s secondary sources include information not to be found anywhere else. The book is also filled with illustrations, portraits of important personages and little known city & county informational charts. You will find facts about Abbot Kinney, noted celebrities & local artists, peculiar and very odd information in the ‘Curiosities’ section, shootings and crime found in the ‘Vice’ section and attractions & sporting events found in the ‘Amusements’ section. VHS Board member India Dupre, will host the event with a slide show of what is to be found in this incredible hardbound manuscript. The book will sell for $75 with a portion being donated to the Venice Historical Society. Have your copy signed by Arnold.

This memorable evening is scheduled for Thursday, October 10th, at 6:30 pm, and will be held at the modern Oakwood Recreation Center, at 7th & California Avenues, Venice, California, 90291. Enter on 7th Street. Free admission. Street parking available.
