Councilman Wants Affordable Housing on MTA Lot

Mike Bonin’s Newsletter stated that he wants affordable housing and community-serving uses on the MTA lot at Sunset between Main and Pacific. It is referred to as Division 6 in the newsletter.

Working with Mayor Garcetti and Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Mike has proposed that the former bus yard on Main Street in Venice be developed through Metro Los Angeles’ “joint development process” called Division 6, to convert the land into needed affordable housing and community-serving uses.

Venetians who have been attending the meetings do not indicate they want 100 percent affordable housing. Division 6 people said they normally do 30 percent affordable. That was more than enough affordable housing for Venetians and particularly since there was no Permanent Supportive Housing.

The question is: Why have these “Ask the Venetians What They Want” workshops, if the Councilperson who happens to also be on the board wants something else?”

What kind of democracy in action is this?

Garcetti, Kuehl and Bonin are liars, fakes and frauds. They hate people who work for a living and play by the rules. They are committed to turning Venice into a ghetto. Now that Garcetti’s pipe dream presidential aspirations are nowhere, he might come back to reality and realize that screwing the general public is not sound public policy.
