Venice Update

News of Venice, CA and Marina del Rey CA

Encampment Update — 9 February

Thanks to LAPD, the two encampments, one at the edge of 91 Freeway and the other on Carter, both shown above, are gone. The tents at 7th Ave are increasing and the tents at Penmar Park west lost one tenant but the mess remained. Photos were taken Saturday after the rain so all the tents were up. LAPD will not request tents be put down during rain.

Venice Blvd, north and south, remain clear and that includes the Grand Canal area that became a large pollution hazard. Only Ocean Blvd between North and South Venice Blvd, shown below, remains.

A car and several vans are looking to establish a line of live-ins on North Venice Blvd, west of Ocean. Car looks familiar.

The lady, who was captured at the old post office in the rain and refused all services, looked to be sitting at the bus stop with her stuff neatly assembled where she had been.

The encampment next to the school on Main is still there.

The encampment on Hampton, north of Rose, is growing but it remains on the west side against the commercial. The encampment that was so messy and next to residences, was on the east side.

The encampment on Hampton, south of Rose, seems to be the same size.

The tents at 7th have more than doubled since last week but there was no noticeable trash. Tents were just neatly lined up in clusters. People were friendly and happy to get out of their tents after the rain. It is always a new crowd.

The area west of Penmar Park lost the resident who won the gold medal for the most trash in that area. Tent was gone but most of the trash remained. Residents have been looking for the high ground. Looked like there was one more tent. The area is clean compared to what it had been. The alley is clean. This too has to be cleaned.
Perhaps a security deposit should be obtained for each person who puts up a tent.

Disgusting mess, where is all the tax money set aside to fix the problem. Whoever is taking a bow for helping the homeless around here needs to be tarred and feathered and run out of Venice.

These updates are excellent. What a surprise that Bad Idea Bonin doesn’t provide encampment news in his monthly PR newsletters patting himself on the back for doing his job (barely).
