Debates, Debates, Debates—And when is a debate, not a debate?

The Westside Regional Alliance of neighborhood councils will sponsor a CD11 council seat debate 27 February, 6:30 pm at Windward School, 11350 Palms Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066.

Latest count is that only Councilman Mike Bonin will attend. Neither candidate Mark Ryavec nor Robin Rudisill will be attending. Both Ryavec and Rudisill will be having their own debate 16 February, 7 pm at the University Synagogue in Brentwood, 11960 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90049.

Mark Ryavec said he had a personal conflict with the date. “In my case, it is a private matter that came up after I told the organizer that generally I was available during February,” he said.

“Once the organizer gave me an exact date, I wrote to her immediately that I did not think I could make it. She proceeded to announce the event even though I had said I had a problem with the date.

So we’re now on for a debate on the 16th in Brentwood.”

So far Rudisill has not had a comment.

The more crap Bonin piles on Venice, the more people from the rest of the district will vote for him, thankful that it is not near where they live

    Debating about debates?

Bonin has no real accomplishments, so he’ll attack his opponents for having a scheduling conflict for a debate that will be seen by dozens of people?

Press releases by his political handlers who want to desperately divert attention to his failed record and lack of accomplishment?

Once again Bonin runs against two underfunded candidates in a race not covered by the press or media because they have decided Bonin can’t lose?

Come to Venice where Bonin has no support and is universally disliked by both homeowners and tenants alike.

A 25-year political insider and career politician now calls for more cops weeks before the election? He made the same promise four years ago!

    Time for a change Venice.
