Road work on Washington Blvd from Lincoln to the bus stop west of Oxford started at 6 am early Saturday morning as proposed. Work will continue until finished which is scheduled for Sunday (2 June) at or before 5 pm.
At the break of dawn the area filled with the large general service trucks and their men and women in yellow jackets and hard hats each doing his assigned job. It was well orchestrated but it was still loud, smelly, and dusty. It appeared to be controlled as much as humanly possible. Trucks carried the removed asphalt down Thatcher to the Thatcher Maintenance Yard.
Traffic was allowed for one lane each way on north side of Washington Blvd. starting early in the morning. All streets but Oxford were closed to Triangle residents for in and out traffic.
Now is the time.
