Groups Listen/Question Architect On-Site of Venice Median Project Regarding the Project

dell1
The proposed Venice Median Project between North and South Venice Blvd and between Dell and Pacific.

Venice Community Housing (VCH) had another meeting with community members for “community input” regarding the Venice Median project.  This time it was on site and the architect or his affiliate answered questions posed by members of the groups as they walked the site.

Eric Owen Moss, architect, was asked questions regarding parking.  “Will you be able to adhere to the Venice Specific Plan as stated in the RFQ/P with all the parking requirements this project entails,” one person asked.  His answer was that if the RFQ/P said he had to adhere to the Venice Specific Plan, he would, but maybe he would have to “ask for a favor.”

Group 1.  Several groups were sxtarted and at various times.  Q&A was to go from 10 am to noon.

The canal that divides the property.  One person made a comment on internet regarding Kip Pardue’s story saying that all this had been cleaned up.  This photo shows property worse than Pardue’s photo.

Nick where is the proof that the proposal will destroy property values? Please share the stats that you have compiled.

You can see the housing stats right here Billy-Boy…

And this is BEFORE the new status of “home of the homeless” becomes well known outside of Venice. Just wait ’till they start to show property and the prospective buyers ask about the people living in the van in front of the sale property. Yes, Venice became overpriced and this is probably an “adjustment” as the real estate mongers will say. But what could happen if Venice (and apparently Venice only) continues to degenerate back into what looks like a partially built, graffiti strewn, transient/RV campground, it could take some serious steps backward. Not everyone is comfortable living and raising a family in extremely expensive housing among the amalgamated riffraff… Or is that the point Mr. Councilman? Looks like blatant social engineering.

This proposal will destroy property values, create more crime in a safe neighborhood and in the end not even make a dent in the homeless equation while make Venice less safe, more densely populated with a greater degree of traffic in an already congested area. This is a social experiment being subsidized with public dollars gone astray and run amok. In the end, few if any Venice homeless or unhoused will benefit from this bureaucratic juggernaut.

Yes Nick – You are right about; “in the end will not even make a dent in the homeless equation.” But the social services will get lots of taxpayer’s money, therefore will be able to do a better job of saying that they are overwhelmed, need more programs and funding. A never ending cycle of cause and effect. ’cause these projects will have little effect on the actual problems.

D-lusional with a capital D. Billy is baiting again. Last time this large scale effort was tried (late-1980s?), the free tent extravaganza at the beach was washed away by the sea. Oh, that gentrifying ocean did the deed. What will it be this time? Maybe this is all a setup for Rick Caruso (who is presently rebuilding the Palisades into a faux northeastern college community, to local outrage) or a developer of his ilk, who has hidden plans for OFW. One can never know. But long range plans for an extended homeless campground and RV park are probably not on any table.

get used to hearing this over and over and over:

Based upon initial research and feedback during the community engagement process, it is likely that the uses and design of this property will prevent the development team from (whatever idea they don’t like)

there is no way to verify this and they will say it to apply to anything. “we keep hearing the residents want…

    these meetings are a sham

What a behemoth! There is nothing this big in the area. Resist!

WE HAVE SEIZED ON THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE AWAY OVER 200 TENTS TO THE HOMELESS. THERE ARE OVER 40 RV’S IN A 3 MILE RADIUS EAST OF VENICE BLVD GOING TOWARDS BEETHOVEN EXTENDING INTO MAR VISTA. THE NUMBERS ARE MOUNTING. THE HOMELESS HAVE BEEN INFORMED ALL OVER AMERICA. WE’VE BEEN GOING AROUND OFFERING FREE GAS FOR THEM TOO. IT’S OVER RETA. WE’VE SOWN THE SEEDS OF JUSTICE.

      Billy -

Who led your group? Were you able to learn any more about the project?

      • BILLYZANATAKOSHASCOMPASSION

I DON’T THINK YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT’S GOING ON DO YOU MR. ANONYMOUS. IT’S CALLED REVERSE GENTRIFICATION. WE ARE REVERSING EVERYTHING YOU DO. IN A SENSE, ERASING EVERYTHING YOU DO. VENICE WILL NEVER BECOME PALISADES, SANTA MONICA, OR THE DREADED MANHATTAN BEACH. IF YOU SEE MANY COLEMAN TENTS PUT UP MORE LATELY IT WAS PARTLY BECAUSE WE ARE GIVING THEM AWAY FOR FREE TO ANY HOMELESS PERSON WHO WANTS ONE. WE’VE GIVEN AWAY MOST OF OUR TENTS IN VENICE AND THE WESTSIDE, INCLUDING MAR VISTA, AND BEYOND. THEY COME HERE NOW KNOWING THEY’LL HAVE WORK FOR THEM, SERVICES TO HELP THEM, PLACES TO PARK, PLACES TO EAT, PARKS TO RELAX IN, BEACHES TO DWELL IN PEACE IN, AND SAFE AND CLEAN AREAS TO WALK IN. DO A SEARCH AND SEE FOR YOURSELF THAT THE WORD IS GETTING OUT. WE DO RV COUNTS EVERY MONTH. OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE 200 RV’S IN THIS AREA BY JULY. THE COUNT EAST OF LINCOLN IS 44 AS OF THIS MONTH. WE NEVER COUNT GOING TOWARDS VENICE BEACH BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS ON THE MOVE IN THAT AREA SO THEY END UP EAST ANYWAY SOONER OR LATER. WE USED TO COUNT IN THAT AREA NEAR THE BEACH BUT REALIZED THE EAST COUNT IS MUCH MORE ACCURATE. PEOPLE LIKE TODD TURTLE AND OTHERS ALSO KEEPS US INFORMED ABOUT THE MOVEMENTS OF RV’S, AND THE HOMELESS. DON’T WASTE ANYMORE OF YOUR TIME.

          • BILLYZANATAKOSHASCOMPASSION

YOU KNOW WHO WE ARE RETA. NOBODY WANTS TO BE HOMELESS, AT LEAST FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND. THIS TENT GIVE AWAY IS TEMPORARY UNTIL MORE HOUSING GOES UP. OUR GOAL IS TO GIVE AWAY AS MANY TENTS AS POSSIBLE. PLEASE, WE TOLD YOU WHO WE WERE WE’D HAVE ANOTHER POOP THROWING CONTEST. NOBODY WANTS THAT AGAIN.
