Thirteen Apply for Eight LUPC Positions

Thirteen people have applied for the eight Land Use and Planning Committee openings.
The candidates will provide their resume and reasons for wanting to join the committee at the next Venice Neighborhood Council meeting, which will be 19 July, 6:30 pm, Westminster Elementary School, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd.The board will vote on the candidates. Those selected will serve two years on the committee. Matthew Royce, who was elected, is the chair person.

    There are some great people on this list to serve. Highly qualified and others not so much – but willing to learn, serve and volunteer for the community. This is tough board to serve on and there needs to be a healthy mix of planners, architects and just plain old citizens with the common sense and sense of service to do the work and put the time in.

    Hopefully we can get some experienced architects, realtors, developers, and other land use-related industry folks on the committee, instead of just anti-development NIMBYs who refuse to acknowledge the damage they’ve done to Venice.
